a few pics

Hi Guys!

I know it’s been a little quiet here while I’ve been moving house so thanks for your patience, normal service will resume shortly. Apart from all of the other house related stuff that’s needed sorting, I have been getting in my craftroom as much as possible to get it unpacked and sorted so here’s a few pictures (apologies for the quality) to show you what we’ve been up to. I was lucky enough to have my Mum and Dad here for the first 10 days to help with the move so much of the work in the photos is thanks to them.

Here is the window side of the room:

This is how the empty room looked after the carpet had been fitted

This was just some of my craft stash that came from the moving truck

I now have wall to wall worktops to give me as much usable surface area as possible, a blind at the window and even a lampshade, it looks much more like a craftroom now :)

We will be putting up shelves on both sides of the window in the coming weeks so this picture shows how it looks so far.

Here is the shorter side of the room:

Again, this is how the empty room looked after the carpet had been fitted

I have gone for a wall to wall worktop again to make the most of the space I have. I also have a couple of wall to wall shelves, it may be a small room but I plan to get as much storage space as possible.

Here is how this side of the room looks now. I have given the shelves a couple of coats of paint and started to fill them with my most used papers and pens, tools etc then I tucked several filing cabinets under the worktop to house everything from ribbons to paper scraps.

I have dreamed of this room for so long and it’s actually coming together better than I’d ever hoped or had pictured in my mind and just know that I’ll be a happy little crafter here :)

The worktop is Ikea’s ‘Lagan’ kitchen worktop and the cabinets are Ikea’s ‘Helmer’ drawer units, we fixed the worktop to the walls and slid 8 of the units underneath as they come on casters :)

You are so lucky to have such beautiful room. I am jealous of the whole project and most of all of the wall-to-wall work space. So much room to have all your tools and stuff… Hope you will keep us posted on your progress and you will keep sharing all the beautiful things you make and for which we thank you so so much!!

Love the wall to wall desk top and shelving. Where did you get the under cabinet white drawers? They look fantastic!

They are the Ikea ‘Helmer’ drawer units, they’re coated metal and not massively sturdy but they’re fine for crafty stuff :)

Wow wow, I envy you, What a wonderful workspace.
I’m lucky enough to have a craft room, but no means to put up shelving or cupboards or anything, mine is just a collection of old, discarded furniture I’ve collected over the years.

Absolutely fabulous Bird, I am so jealous right now, lol. Would you have room for a little one (I will pay you rent of course)??? :-)

Good luck with it all Bird, I can’t wait to see the end results.

looks like you have a lot of storage–can never have enough of that! My craft room is a work-in-progress project… taking way too much time to get it together. It is such a thrill, though, to have your own space to create. Congrats on your new space…!

  24. Jackie

Wow, looks a great room to play in and all that space and drawers!!!
I use the spare room but, have to leave space for guests when they stay so envy you a room just for you – have fun and I look forward to seeing your new designs once you are sorted

  25. Linda from Arizona

Your room looks so nice! I have a wall to wall counter for my workspace and just put in two book cases to store my cardstock. There is a work table in the middle of the room so all I have to do is swivel around for more work space. I’m going to buy another bookcase when they go on sale and then I’ll be done, I hope! Can’t wait to see your room all finished.

  26. cardchick

your room is looking awesome!!! luv all the cabinets(storage) and a nice bright white color too…great job enjoy it a dream coming true!!

  27. Lynne Armstrong

It’s been well worth waiting for Bird…..looks fantastic! The wall to wall worktops are going to be so handy, as are the filing cabinets underneath. I’m very lucky to have my own space and it’s wonderful to be able to escape into it, make a big mess lol and then close the door so no-one can see it :) Enjoy getting it all sorted. I’m looking forward to seeing more photos of it all finished :)
