Santa’s Sleigh

Hiyah!

I mentioned on the forum that my Craftrobo/Silhouette has gone to the great craft room in the sky, it left me no other option than to order a Zing, oh the hardship! ;) Well it turned up this morning and after a good hour or two of setting it up and going through the manual, I made my first project with it. I have quite a learning curve ahead of me with having so many settings on the machine and trying to get to grips with the Make The Cut software all at once but I am going to thoroughly enjoy finding out what this machine can do. There might just be a new format on the horizon :)

Ok, so what do I have for today? I have 2 cut files for you, Santa’s Sleigh and a Gift Card Holder.

There is a particular way I like to put my gift card holders together to make them nice and neat. I attach the patterned paper to the 2 front panels only, then pop 2 brads into the top corners of the bottom section (the straight edge). I tape a piece of ribbon to the back of the gift card holder and only then attach the back panel of patterned paper to cover up the back of the brads and it also holds the ribbon in place.

I chose to add little Santa Sleighs to the front of my gift card holders, I cut the sleigh from the same shimmery red card as the holder base and cut the swirls from some textured gold card and glued together. I popped some 3D foam pads to either end of the back of the sleighs so the ribbon could run under the middle freely.

Swirly Reindeer

Good Evening!

First of all let me say that it is exactly 2 weeks to Christmas Day! My Mum loves a countdown! ;)

I have an addition to the swirly cut files that I’ve been producing lately, this time it’s a Reindeer. There is a 2 legged version and a 4 legged version, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be able to see the back legs so I’ve given you both to let you chose. You can layer the 2 legged version over the 4 legged version to really place the 2 farthest legs in the background.

I’ve made a suspension card today, I used my Silhouette to ensure that all of my circles lined up but it can also be done with a circle die. I cut my card base then stretched some invisible thread (invisible thread is clear but you could also use thin fishing line or just some white cotton) vertically across the circle gap and taped down with some extra strong tape. I sewed some vellum onto my white card layer and added a scalloped circle on top then stuck the completed panel onto the card base sandwiching the thread between the two. The final step is to add the Reindeer to the thread, you will need 2 copies, a mirror of each other to glue together with the thread inside.

This is how the card looks closed:

This is how it looks when the card is opened and the Reindeer has room to spin:

Santa’s Hat

Hi There!

I have a Santa’s Hat Cut File for you today and I have added a card base too if you would like to make some hat shaped cards, I think Santa hats would make great gift tags too.

I cut my card base in some shimmery red card and cut the fluffy parts in some white glitter card, I cut some Holly from the Cut File posted here and popped on a red glitter dome.

On the request thread of the forum, aussierob posted this:

I have a friend who doesn’t celebrate Christmas due to a family tragedy so I always do bah humbug cards for her. Over the last few years I have heard of others who also don’t celebrate Christmas due to tragedies so there might be others who could use this as well.

I haven’t made a specific bah humbug cut file but I have styled my next card in a ‘bah humbug’ way. I hope this appeals to you, I think it’s cute :)
