Just Hanging Around

Good Afternoon!

I have my final installment of my birdcage files as promised, today I have the last birdcage shape along with a Cherry Blossom card with an oriental feel to hang the birdcage from. For those of you without digital cutting machines I have 4 digis for you today, 3 different birdcages on stands and one incorporating the cherry blossom to give you a similar effect to todays card.

I cut my card base in white card and added a layer of patterned paper around the border. I cut my branch in brown card then reduced the size of some of the blossoms to add to the tips of the branches and cut them in pink card. I pressed the middle of each flower blossom into a soft stamp pad (the soft side of a mouse mat would do the trick too) with an embossing stylus to add some shape then stuck down with little dabs of glue. I cut my cage, perch and bird from some pale brown card then shaded the bird and perch with copics to make them stand out poked a hole in the top then threaded and tied it to the branch with some thick cotton. When you stand the card up you get a great effect as the little birdcage spins around in the opening.

Tiptoe through the tulips…

Hello There!

I’ve made a similar card to my last post but my little teardrop gems are raining down on flowers this time rather than an umbrella and those flowers are Tulips! Yup, I have a Tulip cut file for you today and for those of you without digital cutting machines, I made a couple of digis which can be coloured in and cut out with your nesties or punches. The Tulip cut file comes with 5 individual petals so you can get some real dimension with them if you wish.

I cut a square aperture (window) in my card and added a layer of acetate, I sponged the edges of my tulips with distress inks then assembled and stuck to my acetate along with my gems. As the card is all about the window I kept the rest of my card simple, a simple sentiment treatment and a little ribbon and I was done.

Rain Rain, go away, come again another day!

Good Afternoon!

Well what a timely post this is, as the glorious weather we’ve been basking in over the last couple weeks has passed on by and been replaced by grey skies and rain. I wonder if I jinxed it by creating my little umbrella images over the last few days? I have an umbrella cut file for you today along with 2 circle digis including the umbrella image and sentiments and 2 other digi sentiments too which should give you lots of different ways to use them whether you have a digital cutting machine or not. If you have Microsoft Word (97) on your computer and you haven’t seen my digi stamp video tutorials you may want to have a little look if you’d like to see how I change the colour of my digis before I print them.

I thought up this card when I couldn’t sleep one night last week, I’ve had these teardrop shaped gems for at least a couple of years now and suddenly thought they’d make the perfect raindrops. It’s not much of a leap I know but I’m a bit slow on the uptake sometimes! I added an acetate ‘window’ to my card, my tip is to mat your layers then stick to your card base with some removable adhesive, cut your circle with a circle die through all of the layers then separate, add your layer of acetate and pop your layers back down with permanent adhesive…voila, perfectly lined up circles.

I’m entering todays card into the Ribbon Carousel’s Springtime challenge, my card may not have traditional springtime colours but what is more springtime than rain? Well we’ve got lots of the stuff here ;)

**edit** oops forgot to add this one!
