Design Space Issue
Hi Guys!
I’m popping in with a heads-up as I’m getting daily emails from Design Space users regarding an issue with the software.
If you use Design Space and you find that your score lines or detailed sections aren’t lined up as they should be, or, they are showing up on a completely seperate page, you should be able to solve this by using the ‘attach’ button. Make sure you have clicked on the file name in the layers panel if it isn’t already selected then click on ‘attach’.
Lets hope a software update will sort this issue out soon :)
Bird, you really are some kind of wonderful. You not only give us free files, but take the time to help us/give us advice. Have a wonderful day.
You go beyond our need! If the folks would read the information and/or faqs at various sites including their own Cricut and Design Space instructions there would be no need to bother you. I’m sorry you were interrupted, Yes, that’s selfish because I love your files and might have to get the whip out if you slack off for any reason — just kidding about the whip!! :)
First let me thank you so much for the many designs that you have so generously shared with us. I am writing, not to bother you, but to share what I have found the problem to be and how I resolved it. I have used your several of your designs over the past year in Design Space with no issues, until I loaded the Butterfly Easel Card…after the latest update. The problem goes beyond people not reading and following directions. Simply using the “attach” button will not solve some of the issues that are happening. I first loaded the .svg file. Things went pretty well, except for the fact that the cut out portions from the butterfly were “scattered” in no particular order all over the screen. In order to attach, one would have to complete the “puzzle”, sliding them into the correct place before being able to attach. Score lines were fine. I then tried the .dxf file instead. This seemed better, but layer arrangement was confusing. This will work after rearranging layers/recoloring and attaching. I took the .svg file into Corel Draw to take a look at it. Tried “grouping”, saving as .svg and uploading into Design Space. Better, but still problems. I went back to Corel Draw, and “sliced” the front of the card…separated that portion from the part that was cut out (deleted) and then saved as .svg file. Uploaded into DS. This worked perfectly. Again, thank you for sharing your talent. Your butterfly will be my Mother’s Day card this year.
I tried to go and find a solution to this problem but I was unable to use Design Space without having a Cricut which is unusual as I am able to use other similar types of software without having the relevant machine.
So, you’re saying that having each element in a different file prevents this from happening? – Gosh that would be an awful lot of work to go back and change previous files, the only way I’m able to provide free files in so many formats is because I squeeze all of the elements onto one page for you guys to resize your end.
Every other machine’s software I have tested (Make the Cut, ECAL, Scan n Cut Canvas, Silhouette Studio, Robomaster) don’t have this issue so let’s hope there will be a future update to Design Space to prevent these kind of problems.
It would be insane you to go and change your files, and hopefully no one would expect that of you.
You should be able to load the Design Space software without owning an Explore. Just go to http://www.cricut.com and at the top right side of the page it says Cricut Design Space. Click on that and it will open Design Space. Click off the video, unless you want to watch it, you will then go to a project page. Top left square, click start new project. This will bring you to the canvas (work page).
On left side you will see “log in”. You will need to set up a user name and password, but it does not require any equipment be hooked up or registered. Once you register, you should be able to use the software the same as anyone else…just not cut.
No, you should not have to put each element in separate files. I did not go back and try any of the other files that I had used previously without problem. I can do that and see if anything
has changed. I can research this further and if the problem continues, see if I can put together instructions for a work around in Inkscape, Illustrator, and Corel Draw. You already to so much for all of us…let us help you! Busy this weekend, but I will keep you posted.
I did a little more checking. All the other files seem to load fine, including the Daffodil card you just did recently…score lines need to be attached, but that happens with all .svg files. As far as I can see, the Butterfly Easel card has been the only problem.
HI I am just wondering why all the files from here show up black without details when I use in Cricut Design Space, if anyone can help me that would be great
