Fathers day card #2
Hiyah!
Oh Yes, 2 posts in as many days! I have another Fathers day card for you today, the Father-y bit is the waistcoat but I also have the card itself as a file for you too ‘cos I’m good like that ;) You can use today’s waistcoat in conjunction with yesterdays ties if you’d like and if you cut it in different patterns or colours of paper you could get very different looks for different people. I can just see this waistcoat cut in a pinstripe paper for a suit waistcoat look or in a green tweed for a more country-fied look, I however went for a leather effect for a biker in the family who wears one.
To put the card together I folded along the score lines on the top panel then stuck the very bottom of the tag shaped slider to the inside of the lowest scored section ensuring that the tag over hangs on both sides equally. The top and bottom panels can now be stuck together with thin tape giving the tag slider plenty of room to slide in and out. All the card needs at this point is a pop-up piece, I haven’t included one in the file so you can choose your own size to match your focal point or you may choose to use a spellbinders label etc, just remember to only attach it to the middle scored section.
Here’s a close up look at the effect I gave my waistcoat, I wanted an aged leather look so I cut the pieces in black card then covered in Versamark and sprinkled on some clear embossing powder. I blasted it with a heat gun but made sure to stop while it was still a bit pitted instead of continuing to heat until smooth as I wanted the uneven texture. Once cool, I roughed up the surfaces with an emery board to remove some of the shine and add to the aged look then pricked some holes around the edges of the shoulder pieces and the pockets to give a stitched feel. I added some brads to look like metal buttons/poppers and it was done.
Here are your cut files – formats included are ai, dxf, gsd, pdf, studio & svg:
