I came, I saw, I spent!
Hey Guys :)
I attended the NEC’s Annual Craft show yesterday and I shopped ’til I dropped! Oh my gosh it was busy, it looks like everyone had the same idea of arriving nice and early to beat the rush, lol. As I mention often, I love my CraftRobo/Silhouette but the newer 12″ cutting machines have been sparking my interest and I was pleased to see a couple in the ‘flesh’. Naturally I was excited to see the Silhouette Cameo do it’s thing, The ecraft by Craftwell looked very interesting as it doesn’t use a carrier sheet! It seems to stack paper as a printer does or you can add a roller to use lengths of paper/vinyl, it’s just a shame there was no one there to show me how it worked. I was also extremely impressed by the Pazzles machine as they say it’s able to cut materials up to 2mm thick where most of the other cutters (as far as I am aware) seem to cut up to just 1mm thick and among other things, it can engrave metal and glass! Plenty of food for thought for when I am ready to upgrade my machine. So armed with several packs of paper and card and some cool crafting tools, I made my way home absolutely shattered but glad I made the trip.
Onto today’s project, I have the card I made for my Mums birthday to share with you today along with the frame cut file I created for it.
I used this really pretty K & Co floral paper as my starting point, I used on its own for the backing layer but added some vellum on the top to soften it for the center panel to help my sentiment stand out. I printed ‘Happy Birthday’ in green onto some textured card to pick up the green in the paper and cut into a little banner shape then cut the word ‘Mum’ with my Craftrobo in the same shade. I cut away 2 of the little inner pieces in the frame to accommodate the blue silk ribbon I added to pick up the blue in the paper and finished with some pearls I coloured with a green Copic marker.
Here is your cut file, formats included are ai, dxf, GSD, pdf, studio & svg:

Love your card so much – it is just beautiful. Thank you for the frame file.
As ever your files are gorgeous – thanks so much for sharing them.
For a bigger cutter have you looked at the Black Cat Cougar? Details are at http://www.thymegraphics.co.uk/products.asp?cat=12 . I upgraded from my Robo earlier this year and must say it’s been a brilliant improvement – much quicker and quieter and soooooooo much more powerful! I can definitely recommend it – I’ve got the 18inch Cougar and LOVE it!
Gorgeous card Bird! Sounds like you had some fun. Too bad you did not get more info on the Craftwell, I am looking ahead too and I definitely like the idea of going “matless”. I will have to look into the Pazzle you suggested. Thanks for a gorgeous cut file!
Your card is beautiful, thank you for the frame.
I was at NEC yesterday too, may even have bumped into you!!
We thought we would get there early to beat the rush, but it got very busy very quickly didn’t it.

I love your cards Bird, I have been following you for some time, and you never fail to impress me with your designs. This is another stunner, the cut files you create are amazing! I don’t own a machine of any sort (just a little cuttlebug) and every time I stop by here I do think I should invest in one lol! Thanks for sharing your talent.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful files.
Wow another gorgeous file, thanks Bird, I love your card too, your Mum must have been thrilled..
I promise myself I shall go to the NEC one day, I got my Cricut last Xmas, so can’t upgrade YET!
Another gorgeous creation! Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
I too am looking to upgrade I have had my Silhouette since March and I am not very impressed with it. I would like a machine that can cut thicker material and was looking into the ecraft machine as I heard that can cut thicker material and does not need the pesky carrier sheet. x
Your card is beautiful. I like the color.

This is such a lovely card Bird, as is everything you do. I love the font you used for Mum, wonder if you can remember what it was? Love the way you have used vellum to soften, I have tried this and love the result it gives.
Darn it I forgot to say thank you for the cutting file, where are my manners! Thank you, it’s a great file.
Absolutely beautiful!!
You’ve done it again, is beautiful…………..I was at the NEC on Saturday, spent far to much, once again!! Great day out….saw the new Cameo and my wonderful Husband has ordered it for me as my Christmas present, even though I only got the Craft robo as my present last year………was impressed by the deeper cut and quieter running of this machine. Will let you know how I get on with it, if I’m allowed to play with it before the big dayxx
