Lacey Square

I have a set of Lace-y Squares or Frames for you today, there is a version with a deeper edge and one with a shallower edge and both come as a matting layer and a frame. They took a bit of time to get them just the way I wanted them but I’m happy with the result and I hope you like them too :)

I picked the square with the shallower edge for my card and as these are quite intricate designs I made sure I had a fairly new blade and used my new favourite card stock Cutmates. It is quite thin card which is perfect for getting good cuts but it has a lovely soft texture which gives your cuts an expensive looking finish. I used the Prima Divine A4 pad for my card, it has a page that is made up of small square images, I simply stitched along the lines between the images to create my quilt-like background layer, it also has a page of triangles which I cut along to make my banner, easy peasy :)

Having a little trouble with this one when I want to size it. I have never had trouble with your other projects and I love them. It won’t let me select all and pull at the corners to make it bigger, etc., which is weird.

hmm, that is strange. Which software do you use? and do you draw a bounding box around the whole area to select all or another method?

    Wow Bird

I love these… I think I’m sounding like a broken record, but I truly love everything you do… you really are good enough to sell your stuff in the silhouette store and have a big fancy schmancy website with it all on. But, like all the people who come here, I truly appreciate how you share your stuff – it means so much more.

Files like these make me happy I own a cutting machine, because I wouldn’t be able to keep up with buying all the punches and dies to achieve similar results – and then, they’re only ever in one size – we all know that isn’t the case with our cutting machines. Plus storage is easier and cheaper this way! lol.

Thank you so much, as always

Thanks for your lovely compliments Paula, it’s very nice of you to say :)

I am exactly the same as you, I initially wanted a cutting machine because I couldn’t afford let alone justify the expense of all of the edge punches etc that were starting to come out at the time. They are beautiful but if you think of how many designs we can make and cut with our machines it pays for itself in no time!

Dear Bird, I have my Gazelle for about 3 years now and have gotten very limited use from it. I wany to let you know that by using your files as a tool to learn from, I have begune to create my own magnificent files which I am so proud of! At one point I thought that all of the money I had dumped into my craft room was just a waste, but alas you have reawakened the inner craftster in me an giving me courage to try my own designing. Thank you so much! I don’t think you have any idea what doors this has opened for me. I am a Hospice Nurse and these hand made cards have a way of touching people like no other could do. THANK YOU THANK YOU!
