Snow Scene Card
Good Afternoon!
I’m posting last months KnK Design Team project here in case you didn’t see it at the time over at the Team KnK blog and also to include the cut file into my archive.
Today’s the day that I start to get organised for the festive season ahead so I’ve made my first Christmas card of the year, I will be ready this year, lol!
It was a little odd trying to get into the festive spirit while the sun was shining outside so I looked around on the internet for some inspiration for today’s card. I found a few ideas that I liked and set about to creating my card incorporating some of them, the digital sentiment and cut file are available at the end of the post :)
Materials:
My trusty Zing, Make the Cut software, Textured card stock, Gems, Printer
Settings:
Blade = Standard, Blade Height = 25 post-it notes, Offset = 0.30, Speed = 10, Force = 80, Passes = 1
Below are the pieces you will need to cut out with your chosen KNK cutter to recreate today’s card. I cut the card base in white to resemble snow and cut my insert in dark blue to give the effect of a night time sky:
The picture below shows where to apply your adhesive, fold along your perforated line then place your adhesive next to your fold on the right hand side:
Next, fold your insert and line it up with the adhesive then press it into place:
Now that your card is assembled, you can decorate it to your hearts content!
Here’s how my finished card looks:
I decorated my card by adding some mini gems to look like stars in the sky. I printed my sentiment onto some white card then layered it with some of the blue insert paper and popped it onto my card with 3d foam pads. My card needed a little something to finish it off so I cut a snowflake, I added a larger gem to the middle then adhered it to the corner of my sentiment.

I’d love to see this file with a church instead of a house. You do such fabulous designs.
ty!
Wow Bird this is such a great file. I accidently cut it really small and so decided it would make a great tag.
Thank you so much. I got it the last time you posted it.
A church would be lovely too as Cindy suggested. :)

Thank you so much for this file. It’s beautiful ! When you need to make about 30 cards it’s best to keep them simple and elegant! This will be perfect !!!! I truly appreciate all that you provide to your card making peeps !!!

Thanks, Bird. I’ll be doing Christmas cards soon, too.

As beautiful as this card is, and as hard as you’re trying to get us into the spirit…….I’ll think I’ll procrastinate a little longer. LOL Thank you, Bird.
ha ha ha ha, I don’t blame you one little bit! :)
Thank you so much. This card is so elegant. I really appreciate you sharing it with us all!

This is beautiful! Thank you!!
Love it! And thanks so much for the sentiment. There are just not enough Xmas sentiments out there to find… so thanks for putting yours out there…
Thank you for all your great, free files!!
I have just made three of these – they look fantastic, cut from centura pearl for the main card and navy blue paper for the insert (have had that paper for years and never knew what to do with it !!)
More please

This is why us crafters should never throw anything away! lol
Beautiful, just beautiful. Thank you so much. I am so torn as what to do for my Christmas cards – I have so much stuff from CD’s to spellbinders, Craft Artist and of course my cutter with some fab cut files from you – I think I’ll go the clean and simple but elegant route this year – that’s if I pull my finger out!!!

I need some basic help. I just love this card. When I open the file in SCAL it is the size of the mat and wider. Do I somehow have to separate the two pieces? Or what am I doing?I love your images and I love your cards. Thank you so much.
I’m sorry Cathy, I have never used SCAL so I don’t know what to suggest. Do you have any commands for separating pieces such as ‘ungroup’ or ‘release compound path’ or anything similar? If the design is too large for you, is there no way to resize shapes in SCAL? Maybe try clicking on the design and look for a ‘scale’ command or try seeing if there are arrows on the corners to drag inwards.
I just had a look on google for you and there is a SCAL forum so maybe you can find out some basics there :)
