Making Glitter Masculine
Hi Guys!
My Zing has been a little poorly sick but the fantastic peeps at KNK are sorting it all out for me ‘cos that’s the way they roll :) It did mean however that I didn’t have a cutting machine to work with when I made my Father’s Day Card so I had to put my thinking cap on. My Dad does love a bit of glitter at Christmas, don’t we all?, but I challenged myself to make a non-Christmas-y yet masculine Father’s Day Card and this is what I came up with:
I picked 3 of the most masculine colours of glitter I had in my stash – black, green and a white with a hint of green. I cut a panel of white card then added a strip of double sided sticky tape at the top and added glitter to it, I brushed off the excess then added the next strip of tape and used the next colour of glitter and so on. As long as you burnish the glitter into the tape with your finger you shouldn’t get any cross contamination of colours as all of your tape will be nice and covered.
My next challenge was the lettering, all I could find in my stash were mismatched chipboard letters, one was blue and the other two were cream. To make them all uniform, I covered all of the letters with some black permanent marker then added a generous coat of liquid gloss to give them some shine, sorted! :)
Yikes, no cutting machine! You did a beautiful card without it, but I hope it gets well soon!
This is a really great card, Bird, and just shows that we don’t always need a cutter, just a brain and imagination!! I bet your dad was really OTM with this one. Thanks for all the great files and inspiration.

Very masculine and clever of you. Men love stripes and you said he loved glitter. Love the stripes with the circle on the edge for added interest. Super! HOpe you cutting machine is well soon.
Such a great card and good call on the letters. Hope poorly Zing is better soon.
this is a really great card. The colors are perfect for any masculine theme and the glitter works well for this!
Hugs,
Jo
I’m impressed with the way your card turned out. You are very creative!
This is great Bird, Can I re=create this for man’s birthday card please?
Kind regards

Of course! I’m tempted to try it in different shades of pink and purple for a little girls birthday card too :)
Good thinking!! I had to make a baby card without my machine recently…it IS a challenge! Good job!
This is a great idea Bird. I love how you have created the corner and added your word. Great tutorial, thanks so much for sharing it. xx
Cool card x
Now, that’s clever! Love this idea and it leads to even more!
Great idea Bird, love your card, bet your Dad did too! Sorry to hear you have a sick Zing, I am sure they will make it just like new. ~Diane
Love it!
Beautiful card… it is so hard to find masculine idea, but you nailed it!
What a great idea x
Really love your card Bird – thinking outside the box. Just shows you how we get to rely on certain things in our craftrooms. I think one of the worse things to be without would be our computers or the internet… eek!
Hope it gets well soon.
Also hope you’re dad liked his card and didn’t get too much glitter on him lol.
