Scandinavian Hearts
Good Afternoon!
I saw this cute string of Christmas lights in Ikea when I was there with my Mum recently:
I loved the idea of the interlocking hearts from U shapes and looked them up on Google, I’ve since found out that these are a Scandinavian Christmas Tradition and that they can be made into little baskets to hold treats and hung on the tree. I have made a selection of these hearts for you today, there are 3 different designs. I have given you the double ended version in each design to weave together and make the little baskets, I have found a video showing how to do the weaving for the basket here. I have also included each of the 3 designs in a single ended version and added a backing layer so they may be turned into tags as I have done in my example below :)
I cut my tag front twice, once in red glitter card and once in white. I wove my pieces together and glued the ends in place, I cut a backing layer from some white card and glued to the back of my woven heart which gave it some stability and helped to hold the pieces together. The white backing layer gives you a lovely smooth surface to write your message on, all I needed to do then was popping in an eyelet and threading with some organza ribbon.

Thank you for a great file. I used to make larger ones with my fifth graders to hold their valentines. Very nostalgic.
You can never tell when inspiration will stike! Nice idea.
