Something a little different
Hello There!
I have something a little different for you today, I have been asked to make a card for a family member who is attending a Handfasting. A Handfasting is an age old Celtic Wedding Ceremony, where they tie the hands of the Bride and Groom together with ribbon which I assume is where the expression ‘tying the knot’ comes from. I didn’t have a clue how to approach it but in the end this is what I came up with and I hope the person I made it for will like it.
I cut the hands from a pale peach colour card and heavily sponged the edges with antique linen ink then cut the finger nails with cream card and sponged with tattered rose ink. I layered the hands and fingers with 3d foam pads wrapping the ribbon as I went then added the whole front piece to the card base.
Here is your cut file – formats included are ai, dxf, gsd, pdf, studio & svg:

Very very nice, it looks so well made and what an unusual request.
This is amazing Bird, I know they will love it!
Wow they look so real and i am postive they will LOVE them like i do!!!!
Hi there (do we call you Bird)(sorry I’m not sure)
Anyway, I find the request for this image interesting,if unusual because it’s not often you hear of people having a pagan ceremony of handfasting. Having said this, I have an e-friend (met through blogging) who was having this very ceremony last year… I think she was already married but it was a way of re-newing their vows… I certainly would like to see a ceremony though.
I was given a link to your site and can’t believe how many cut files you give away for absolutely free. Being new here, I have been catching up with a few things and have taken the liberty of downloading them – all sorts of ideas swirling round my head now!!! I can’t thank you enough for your kind generousity and wish to compliment you on some very cleverly designed and stylish files/images.
Thank you so very much for allowing such as myself access to wonderful files, particlarly at a time for me when money is tight due to ill health and having to give up a job I loved. With other financial priorities, buying lots of craft stash and files such as this, is very low to non-existant on that list – so you have enabled me to carry on crafting and get fresh and new things (objects, files, 3d stuff) into my cards and papercrafting which are usually for someone else anyway!!!
Thank you again

Your hand card is beautiful, very unique. What a lovely memento your friend will have to cherish. I downloaded this in case my best friend ever decides to have this ceremony. This is my first time here. After reading through all the comments, II can’t wait to start browsing.
Thank you ahead of time for sharing your free files, ideas and creative talents.
Amazing idea!
Neat!! Thank you!!
Love it!!! Nothing like this that I have seen. Thank you!!!!!!!
What a perfect card! Does that mean in the tradition of handfasting they will be married for 1 year and 1 day unless they decide otherwise?
Really unusual and very creative. Thank you for sharing with us.
Hi Bird I nominated your for the Versatile Blogger Award on my blog.

Very unique!
I think you have done an amazing job with this unusual request. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wonder if I can use this as a praying for you card…such detail!
Thaks, great image
Thanks for the free cut files! I had no way of using them when I first found you. A computer change to Windows 7 left me with no way to access my pink Wishblade – Xyron does not support Windows 7. Thru some searching I found that the Silhouette program will run my pink Wishblade and I’m in heaven now! I think your hand card came out great and I’m sure they will love it! Thanks again for sharing! Big Hugs!!
Wonderful! I will be using this soon. Thank you!
This is so cool Bird. When I first saw it on my IPhone I thought it was an arm wrestling card. Thanks for sharing with us. :-)
This card is fabulous. Well done!
ty!
Awesome!
This is so utterly amazing! I absolutely adore it and have many friends this will be appropriate for in the future and now I will have something completely beautiful and unique to present to them. Thank you once again! <3
